Lid Mass Removal

A lid mass is a lump or growth that appears on the eyelid. Some lid masses are harmless, while others can be cancerous and dangerous. Many patients seek treatment because of changes in eyelid shape or discomfort. Some lid masses are small and painless, while others grow quickly or cause pain. Identifying the type of lid mass is very important because cancerous ones must be removed quickly. Removal helps confirm the diagnosis, restore the shape of the eyelid and prevent further problems.

Causes
  • Blocked oil glands
  • Cysts or benign growths
  • Skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma
  • Viral growths like warts
